FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Can I use a rooftop tent with a tonneau cover?
Yes, with a roll-up tonneau cover that clamps to the bed rail rather than covering the top of it. Our racks mount in the stake pockets when available, or will need to bolt into the bed rails on trucks without stake pockets. Rolling covers should still be able to open and close under the rack and cargo.
How do I get into my truck bed with a rooftop tent mounted?
With Axiorax, you lift the rack. Gas struts assist in raising the rear of the rack, tent included, and safety props hold it open while you load or unload. As long as the tent and gear weigh under 200 lbs, there’s no need to take them off.
Does Axiorax fit my truck?
Pre-orders are open for 2019+ Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500, and 2016+ Ford F-150, all with the 5.5 ft bed. A Toyota Tacoma version is in development. See Specs & Fitment, or send us your truck's year, model and bed length.
How high does it sit?
The crossbars sit 6 in above the bed rails, which keeps a rooftop tent much lower than a typical bed rack. Add your tent's closed height to see where it will sit relative to your cab roof.
Does it require drilling?
Not on the Silverado 1500 or Sierra 1500. The rack clamps into the factory stake pockets and uses existing factory holes. On the F-150 it does require a 1/2" hole drilled into each stake pocket.
How much weight can it carry?
The gas struts assist in lifting up to 200 lbs of mounted gear.
The design load is 500 lbs when closed.
Can I carry things other than a rooftop tent?
Yes. The crossbars work for bike racks, cargo boxes and other gear that fits on crossbars spaced from 30 to 42 inches center to center.
How much does it cost?
From $1,700. Custom colors and anodizing are available at extra cost.
How long does installation take?
About 2 hours for an experienced installer, using common tools. Nothing on your truck needs to be measured. Allow more time if it's your first install.
Is it safe to work in the bed with the rack raised?
Always set the safety props before reaching into the bed. They hold the rack open so it can't come down in case the struts fail.
